   Smartly Improving Wood

Thermo-transformation uses heat to significantly improve the natural features of wood.

Because it frees wood from moisture, this ecological process, which relies on the Perdure technology, makes it more resistant, durable and stable, all the while giving it a unique, exquisite appearance. Such improvement multiplies possible applications for wood.

• Process

Wood is heated in an oven with a capacity of 4 500 fbm using both propane gas and electricity. Following precise guidelines based on the dimension and specie of lumber used, an operator gradually increases the oven’s temperature until it reaches the required level. Once that point is attained, the temperature is maintained for a predetermined amount of time. Then, the oven is cooled down by steam injection and the thermo-transformation process is completed. The whole process requires between 12 and 15 hours from start to finish.
